Port Oostende attracts new innovative company
Cspect carries out underwater inspections with drones and robots
The company Cspect recently moved from Jabbeke to Port Oostende. Cspect operates with underwater drones and robots (type ROV: remotely operated vehicle) in the inspection of cables, foundations, quays, dams, and other installations under the waterline. Several innovative companies active in the field of drones and robots are already located in Port Oostende. This creates a cluster of companies that can strengthen each other. In addition, Cspect finds many potential customers in Port Oostende.
In 2023, Cspect inspected more than 60 monopiles at various offshore wind farms off the Belgian and German coasts and already carried out various inspections of pontoons, vessels, and quay walls. For example, this company also carried out an underwater inspection of a roll-on roll-off bridge in Port Oostende, following the rising maritime traffic.
The arrival of Cspect to Port Oostende provides additional employment, which contributes to the realization of the mission and vision of Port Oostende. In addition, this fits perfectly within its second basic foundation: "Supporting research, incubation, development and innovation".
In this context, Port Oostende founded Ostend DroneHub Oostende vzw in 2019, together with the Economic House, Rebo, Hogeschool Vives, VLOC and Ostend International Airport – Bruges, where the latest drone technologies are tested and analysed from different application domains and with input from different partners. Ostend DroneHub Oostende profiles itself internationally and links companies that offer drone services to companies that need drone services.
"The arrival of Cspect to Port Oostende should further anchor our position at the top of Europe in the field of innovative drone research and drone applications."
"We are delighted that Cspect has chosen Port Oostende as a base to further strengthen their expertise in drones. By creating new jobs and the possibility of forging ties with companies in the area, Port Oostende will help to reap the benefits of this new location."
"As an engineering firm, we feel a deep connection with the sea, a force that connects us to the essence of our customers such as Parkwind, Norther, Otary, C-Power, Jan De Nul and Deme, all of whom are firmly rooted in Port Oostende. We are delighted to be able to serve our customers directly on the spot. In addition, Port Oostende is the perfect base to further strengthen our commitment to the blue economy."
